We'll buy your gold - broken, unwanted and scrap items of Gold or Platinum

Sell any items of gold or platinum at Serendipity Diamonds, located on the Isle of Wight. We are happy to buy any items of precious metal and offer the best scrap prices. We take all items including broken jewellery, scrap precious metal, dental gold and unrefined gold. We provide a scrap metal service to provide a cash value for unwanted items of jewellery.

How to sell your gold or platinum jewellery

1. Send us any items of precious metal or bring items into our showroom to view

You are welcome to visit us or send your items to us by Royal Mail Special Delivery. Once received, we will video and inspect all items for your reassurance. Next, we will email you a confirmation of safe receipt. We send all items to our scrap metal specialists to verify the gram weight and purity of your items.

2. Await confirmation of precious metal content and value

Within a matter of days, we will contact you to verify the value of precious metal content. At this point, you are welcome to either accept the valuation and receive payment or decline and arrange for your items to be returned. We make payment typically by bank transfer or we can arrange cash payment for anyone visiting our showroom by prior arrangement.

Please note that we will not scrap any items until we have received a written agreement by email to approve the sale. This will ensure you are 100% happy to proceed.

Do we require ID when you sell your gold?

Unless you are an existing client, we request a valid form of ID (passport or driving license) before we will purchase any item of gold. This ensures all items come from legitimate sources. All information is held securely and privately with total confidentiality.

Who covers the cost of postage?

We are happy to include the cost of postage in addition to the value of your items when we make payment.

Insurance for items sent

Please contact us if you require insurance cover for any precious metal and jewellery sent to us. We will request specific details to arrange inward cover for any items sent to us, from us in addition to cover for items held in our care.

Items of jewellery with gemstones or diamonds

As part of our service, we are happy to unset any small diamonds or gemstones from your jewellery for a small charge which will be deducted from your quote. We are happy to return any gemstones, or, please speak to us about selling your diamonds or gemstones as part of the transaction.

Selling dental gold

We are happy to purchase items of dental gold provided items are sent in a clean and sterile condition. We send all items of dental gold to our refiner to verify the purity and gram weight of any gold or precious metal content before arranging a detailed quote.

I'm not sure of the purity of my gold. Does this matter?

It does not matter if you don't know the exact purity of your gold. For example, gold can be 9 carat, 14 carat, 18 carat or 24 carat. Regardless of hallmark, our refiner can analyse any metal using mass spectrometry to determine the exact purity and value of any item.

How much is scrap gold worth?

This depends on the gram weight of fine gold contained within any item. We work on a current scrap gold price. This varies daily and for this reason, our offers are valid for no more than one week.

Should I sell my scrap gold near me?

We are happy to work on a fully insured basis, by secure delivery. For this reason, you do not need to sell your gold close to home. We provide this service across the UK from our showroom on the Isle of Wight.

Who gives you the most money for scrap gold?

Many retail jewellery offer approximately 50% below scrap value to maximise the profitability of their purchase. We do our very best to offer as close to scrap value as possible based on the current live scrap metal price of the day.

Selling mixed items of precious metals

It does not matter if your items contain a mixture of precious metals. We work with refiners to extract and purify precious metals from any source. Please note that it can take a few days longer to provide specific information on precious metal content from complex items made with a mixture of metals.

What types of gold or platinum do we buy?

We buy all types of scrap precious metal including the following. Various scrap items of jewellery, dental gold, broken chain, damaged rings, gold coins, broken sections of jewellery, stone set jewellery, gold wire, gold plate, grain, gold filings, gold, platinum, palladium and silver shavings.
